To say that I’ll probably be doing this more irregularly than anything else is almost a given. But nothing ventured nothing gained — and so, how do you do? Welcome to my (allegedly long overdue) attempt at a formal blog.
This is part of a longer term project that will see this site change a bit more over time, and pretty much everything is up for grabs as it stands right now. But as to what prompted it, which I suppose is as good a place to start as anything — a few things, really, came into play. A desire to eventually create a low-key central clearing point for all my scattered work and interests separate from social networking sites, a handy ‘contact me here’ spot in general, a place to more generally muse and test out ideas beyond the very irregular blog thoughts on Myspace, and probably more reasons down the line that I haven’t fully brought on board yet.
The organization by category reflects general interests that I can see myself talking about on via a regular basis, though a couple will lie dormant for a while yet (most especially the PodBlog, but you can guess what I’d eventually like to do with that, I’m sure).
Feedback of any sort is welcome, if not downright encouraged. For now I’ll moderate comments to keep autobot spam away; we’ll see how it works.
As for the design of the page, which right now is just a WordPress template that I like, that too will change but all in good time.
Finally I should say something about the many inspirations for this blog, though in respects my initial posts in the categories will detail things more with specific models and places to look at — the compelling, almost cocooning nature of blogtalk is by default fairly seductive, and I don’t pretend to be immune. Many different sites, group and individual, have provided a model over time, and I’m just as intrigued by those writers who have completely torpedoed old approaches in favor of new ones as those who have maintained a generally similar tone and focus over the years. I suspect this blog will aim more at the level of extensive reflection rather than brief bursts of snark, but it will all depend on time and inclination (right now it’s VERY relaxed at work, for instance, but that won’t be the case in a few weeks, so). So those blogs that have followed that general model, thanks — you’ve given me a guide that for the moment I will pursue.
Onward.
