One last Klaus Dinger note

I’ve received a number of compliments for my brief remembrance of Dinger from last week — and thanks all! — but Mike McGonigal called my attention to an excellent piece that’s been posted over at the Daily Swarm — it’s not a new one, but it is an extended version of an article done by Mike Rubin for Spin back in 2001, talking in great detail about Neu! and Dinger in particular.

As with many artists, he sounds like one of those people whose work was moving but who was best kept at a distance personally. No crime, it’s just the way it is sometimes. In any event, do give it a read; it’ll probably stand for some time as the best overall English language accounting of Neu!, the fractured relationship between Dinger and Michael Rother and the tangled way in which their work finally got a formal reissue.
