It was pretty beautiful viewing around here for the first half of the month — it was as if all the rain had happened over the holidays to allow for all this as the payback. Some scattered samples from my Flickr stream:

Storm clouds over the Back Bay

Let these bouts of rain we’re having continue, at least in some sort of manageable way. (Doubtless I’d be saying something else if I were living near the Angeles National Forest.) But they do make the mornings lovely in that the air, for however brief a time, scrubbed clean.

The importance of luck in photography

I can’t imagine any photographer saying that luck doesn’t play a key role in their work — the idea of ‘right place, right time’ is almost paramount. Thus, this photo — which I wouldn’t have taken if I hadn’t been going to the Apple Store near where I live to get a new connector between my new computer and my old monitor. The time was right, I had my iPhone with me, the moment suggested itself plainly.

Summed up. Some days you just want to chill, after all. (And that’s been my goal the entire weekend and so it’s proved, with a nice exception being the pretty good Indian Jewelry show last night on campus.) Hope your own weekend’s been equally nice.
