The perils of being a foodie

It can cause you to stop being a country’s leader.

Quite obviously given the extremely torturous and unsettled history of democracy in Thailand, both the stakes and the situation that resulted in this are far more than meets the eye — and strange occurences like these aren’t new either for the country; during the last few years another Thai prime minister has gone from being a massive populist in his home country to an owner of an English football team. Still, especially given the elections here and all, there’s something so sweetly surreal about reading a headline like “Thailand’s prime minister forced to resign over TV cooking show,” you have to admit.

Also, what a BRILLIANT name for a food show — Tasting and Complaining. Somebody over here should have thought of that by now.
