Little to say today

There is work, there is a sense that one needs a mental break from the current problems of the world and then there’s also the realization of what the day is.

Perspectives may differ but I find the Pentagon memorial to be a striking and moving design:

The Pentagon memorial

I’ve read mentions about how the two designers behind it were inspired in part by Maya Lin’s legendary Vietnam memorial, and the memory of seeing it in 1983 the first time I visited DC remains vivid. This, in a much different way, is no less captivating.

Meantime, the legendary Alex in NYC has posted today remembering the friend he lost at the WTC.

Later today I will revisit the perhaps too melodramatic promise I made to myself shortly after the day itself and play Arvo Part’s “Cantus.”

And life will continue.
